Story To Book is operated by jbai, LLC, a Hawaii limited liability company.
Story To Book is a place to write the most personal book you will ever write. The words you record here belong to you. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do.
What we collect
- Account info: your email address and a hashed password.
- Your story content: interviews, voice memos, transcripts, chapters, photos and any contributor responses you collect.
- Basic technical data: session timestamps and error logs so we can keep the service running.
What we never do
- We never sell your data.
- We never train AI models on your stories.
- We never share your content with other users.
- We never read your stories except when you ask for support and explicitly opt in.
How your data is protected
- All traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS.
- Data is encrypted at rest on managed infrastructure.
- Access is enforced at the database layer with row-level security — even our own application code cannot read another user's project.
- Files (photos, audio) live in private storage buckets; only you can generate access links.
- Passwords are checked against the Have I Been Pwned breach database to block compromised credentials.
Third-party processors
We use a small number of trusted vendors to run the product: a cloud database and authentication provider for storage and login, a voice-to-text provider for transcription, and an AI language model for ghostwriting assistance. Each one receives only the data necessary for its task and is contractually prohibited from using your content to train models.
Contributors
When you invite a family member or friend to answer prompts, they only see the specific questions you sent them. They never see your other content, the rest of your book, or anyone else's responses.
Your rights
- Access: download a complete JSON export of your data at any time from Account.
- Deletion: permanently delete your account and every piece of content with one click. There is no soft delete — your data is genuinely removed.
- Portability: exports include plain transcripts and chapter text you can paste anywhere.
